How To Make THCA Diamonds: A Step-By-Step Guide
14th Jun 2023
If you enjoy cannabis, you may want to try THCA diamonds. They are a concentrated form of cannabis known for their purity and potency. In this article, we'll explain how to make THCA diamonds in clear, easy-to-follow steps.
THCA Diamonds Explained
THCA diamonds are the zenith of cannabis concentrates. They come from raw cannabis oil and have a high concentration of THCA, which is the natural form of THC. Commonly described as the "caviar" of cannabis concentrates, THCA diamonds are pure, potent, and have a crystal-like structure.
Gathering Needed Tools and Materials
To begin, you will need the following tools and materials:
- Cannabis extract, ideally BHO live resin
- An airtight mason jar
- A big vacuum oven
- A vacuum pump
- Parchment paper
- A scalpel or razor blade
- Containers for collection
Note: Always focus on safety while handling flammable and solvent materials. It would be best to work in a place with a good air supply, and you need to wear the right safety gear.
Preparing the Extract
Creating THCA diamonds starts with a high-quality cannabis extract. BHO live resin is the best choice because it's rich in terpenes and cannabinoids, which makes the diamonds more potent and flavorful. Go for a live resin that has a good balance between being liquid and being sticky. It's easier to work with during the process.
Adding the Extract to the Mason Jar
After preparing your extract, put it in a clean, dry mason jar. Fill the jar about halfway. This will allow space for the extract to expand during the diamond-making process. The seal on the jar lid must be tight.
Beginning Crystallization
Place the sealed jar in a vacuum oven. Set the temperature to 86°F (30°C). This low temperature will enable the THCA to separate from the other compounds in the extract. Keep the temperature and pressure in the oven stable for two to three days. You should see small THCA crystals form.
Speeding Up Crystal Growth
When the small crystals form, set the oven temperature to 104°F (40°C). This higher temperature will speed up the growth of the crystals. It will also make the cannabis extract less sticky. This lets the THCA crystals form more easily. Over the next few days, maintain the pressure in the oven and monitor the jar for growing crystals.
Harvesting THCA Diamonds
About ten days in, the THCA diamonds should be ready to harvest. Take the mason jar out of the vacuum oven. Let it cool to room temp. Open the jar and pour off the "terp sauce," the liquid terpene layer. You'll be left with the THCA crystals in the jar.
Cleaning Up and Drying
After separating the terp sauce, it's time to clean and dry your diamonds. Shake the jar gently to loosen the crystals. Pour them onto a sheet of parchment paper. Break them apart with a razor blade or scalpel if you see clumps. Let the THCA diamonds dry in the air for 24 hours. Now they should be free from moisture and any leftover terpenes.
Storage and Use
Your THCA diamonds are now ready. You can put them in a clean, airtight storage container. When using them, try vaporizing, dabbing, or adding them to food or drinks. Always remember: THCA diamonds are strong. Use a small amount to start.
